We Recycle!!

On Monday we had a presenter come into class to talk about recycling and the importance it has on the environment.

As a school we are promoting recycling by placing bins around the school labeled "GLASS," "PAPER," and "CANS" These bins will be in each hallways as well as in the school cafeteria. Students are highly encouraged to participate in this "Go Green" movement at Fairview School.

Something that the students loved was that we learned how to make recycled paper out of old class assignments. We will be doing this activity in class next week, but below is the link to the page of instructions incase students wanted to look and see what we are going to do, or they could try it out on their own with parental help, as it involves using a blender.

The Water Cycle

We are currently in a unit about the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation.) Here is a diagram to help with understanding.

We will be doing activities and experiments in class that help to better understand this cycle.

How a Bill Becomes a Law

We are beginning a unit on our government and different things that go into how our country is run. In relation to this video, students should know the very basis of how a bill is made into a law. The students loved this video that I showed in class, and it can be both a helpful and entertaining way for them to remember the steps of how a bill becomes a law. Enjoy!!

Meet Miss Pruden

Hello Parents and Students,
My name is Ms. Pruden, and this is my first year teaching at Fairview.  I am so excited for this year, with this wonderful class of  enthusiastic  learners. Although this is my first year teaching, this is not my first year being at Fairview. I attended Fairview for my elementary school years and I could not stay away from it, and missed it when I was in High School and College.  I recently graduated from Taylor University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. You will most likely find me doing something outside, as I love being in the outdoors. I am hoping to incorporate as much class work as I can outside, so that the students can realize that the world around them is a classroom, not just inside. If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me by email or phone.
